IMMEDIATE RELEASE Flag Officer Announcements

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Gretchen S. Herbert will be assigned as commander, Navy Cyber Forces, Virginia Beach, Va. Herbert is currently serving as director, Net-Centric Capabilities Division, N2/N6F, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Thomas S. Rowden, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director, Surface Warfare Division, N86, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Rowden is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, San Diego, Calif.

Capt. Phillip G. Sawyer, who has been selected for rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Submarine Group Seven/commander, Task Force Seven Four/commander, Task Force Five Four, Yokosuka, Japan. Sawyer is currently serving as vice commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego, Calif.

Rear Adm. Kurt W. Tidd will be assigned as commander, Fourth Fleet/commander, U.S. Naval Forces, U.S. Southern Command, Mayport, Fla. Tidd is currently serving as vice director for operations, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. Mark A. Vance will be assigned as commander, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Fallon, Nev. Vance is currently serving as director, Programming Division, N80, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
