It seems to me that America is a very individualistic society and many People of Color subscribe to that anyway so any 
covenant will never work. We have that "I gotta get mine" type of attitude. We no longer wanna be obligated to a larger society, culture or traditions...we just want our piece of the American Dream by any means necessary.
